Green Apps on iPhone/iPod

Posted by Margaret H Stout in iPhone , green apps

Recently, I noticed there are more and more Green apps in the  App Store on my iPod (Stuck with Verizon Wireless, can't have iPhone :( , really wish I had the phone... kicking myself every time I need to look up something on the road).

Downloaded this one before Xmas: Find Green - "Find the Green in Everything... Locally. A perfect companion for traveling and the on-the-go eco- or health-conscious consumer, Find Green connects you to all the best local green businesses and services you want! " I tried to find local stores for Green Xmas presents in my biking distance, only one was shown on the list: Global Gifts, 7.6 miles away from me. When I tried to find local food/dining in my biking distance, there are 12 of them, including farmers markets, local butcher shops, and Broadripple Brewpub?! Interesting. It also come with Green Tips everyday.

Also, I just downloaded CO2 Tracker. Darn!! This has to be on the iPhone: "This app uses iPhone’s GPS to track the start and end point of a trip and returns an estimate on the amount of CO2 emissions your mode of travel generated. " I don't drive much with my Civic Hybrid, but still would be interesting to see how much CO2 I emitted, and how I can reduce it.
